OFFICE COMPLEX PART OF ROORKEE CITY CENTRE < BACK TO ARCHITECTURE

In the eighth semester Design Studio, we had to design a City Centre along Roorkee-Haridwar Highway. Then each student had to pick up a part from the city centre and detail it. The green office complex of my city centre had embedded Fin 'jalis', inspired from traditional Kollam patterns, as its envelope that through an enhanced play of light and shade further animate the tectonic quality of the building. The technique proposed was a combination of lanced perforations and stamping in lieu of puched openings for minimal solaar penetration. The design also had efficient water management,
mutual shading and courtyard planning concepts.
